…with me, Jim Baker!
Born and raised between Flushing, Queens and Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, I have been crafting Citywalks around the five boroughs since 2011, when I joined over a dozen international graduate students and mutual friends on a sweltering summer Saturday, inaugurating what would become the “Long Walk” from Inwood Cafe to Fraunces Tavern.
Having since obtained a PhD in cultural geography from University of Nebraska (ask me anything about it), I offer Citywalks to the curious public: a remix of the classic neighborhood walking tour methodology. Together with my fellow walkers, we engage in learning about the City’s bewildering network of Culinary Cartographies, helping to build an understanding of the myriad foodscapes of the five boroughs, championing the cultures and people who invigorate us all, and sharing in the unique, neighborly livelihoods that make New York City a capital-P “Place in the World.”
Whether you’re a local interested in broadening your NYC horizons, or traveling to the City for business or pleasure, CitywalksNYC has you covered - I am licensed by the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection and also a NYC Department of Education vendor!
And don’t forget, custom Citywalks make great gifts for friends and loved ones!
